What happens when under-appreciated, talented artists are brought together to focus their efforts on making good records, one song at a time, and putting on good shows, one show at a time?!
EASYLOFI MUSIC is an independent enterprise providing artists with all the basic ground-work to get their careers on the go: artist development, recording, booking, you name it…
In-house producer, Philippe Lafreniere and founder of EASYLOFI kicks off a concert series at Mercury Lounge, running on the last Thursday of every month (unless indicated otherwise), throughout 2010-2011.
UP & UP will showcase a number of up-and-coming Canadian artists doing everything from folk and roots to funk, blues and world traditions; expect live performances by Phil Motion & The Easy LO-Fi, Mackenzie Rhythm Section, Claude Munson, Amelia Leclair, Rommel Ribeiro, and more.
Designed from the ground up, with attention to every detail, UP & UP will allow these artists to showcase their talent, promote their projects, develop their contacts and connect with their fans!

DJ Trevor Walker meets People Project’s co-founder, Philippe Lafreniere & guest for a night where organic and electronic meet in harmony to create the perfect show for those seeking both a DJ and a live band.
Expect Trevor to lay down straight, fat, heavy beats while multi-instrumentalist, Philippe, adds simultaneously to the mix using anything from guitar, bass, cavaquinho, percussion, melodica, accordion, etc… A most creative mix of funk, latin, reggae, you name it – this original new duo is bound to knock your socks off!

We started this project back in September 2010 working out People Project original material to electronic beats and samples put together by DJ Trevor Walker. The idea was to combine organic and electronic elements to suit fans, live music-lovers, and clubbers alike.
The result is that fat sub-bass in those pulsating beats while keeping the spontaneity of a live performance. While some tunes are worked out and arranged, others are totally improv, embracing some of the spirit of jazz as well. Originally, I was working with Rommel Ribeiro, a long time collaborator in People Project but Rommel returned to Brazil today to work on a few things there for a couple of months. He’ll be joining us again for a Canadian summer tour in July. Luckily, I’ve found another talented Brazilian, Evandro Gracelli who has been quick to jump on board as a new collaborator. I’m thrilled to be sharing the stage with him, mixing up different originals and covers on several instruments.
It’s a new idea within People Project and it’s still in the works; there has been talk about making an album highlighting some of these new electronic innovations we’ve brought to our own music but for now, we’re just there to let loose and have a good time.
