Tickets are on sale. The excitement is mounting. Now, there’s only one question remaining for music fans this summer: What are you wearing to RBC Bluesfest?
Fashion lovers will have their answer on Saturday, June 4th, 2016, when RBC Bluesfest launches the official fashion line at Bayshore Shopping Centre.
The collection of 17 pieces were designed specifically for RBC Bluesfest by local fashion house, KANIA. The fashion shows will run at noon, 1pm and 2pm on Level 1, in front of Forever 21.
As with last year’s inaugural fashion campaign, this year’s initiative is centred around fans and their music, says Mark Monahan, RBC Bluesfest’s Executive/Creative Director.
“After success of last year, in which music fans really loved the focus put on style and their own festival fashion, we decided to bring it back and to expand the scope,” says Monahan.
This year’s initiative will see the return of free fragrance and makeup sampling at the RBC Bluesfest Fashion tents, sponsored by The Loft Urban Salon and J Croner Agency; the fashion collection designed by Stacey Bafi-Yeboa of KANIA, Canada’s luxury sweatshirts and social media fashion reporting on the best looks by the Style Squad. In the VIP Big Chill, music lovers can also get free henna, glitter tattoos and onsite hair styling in The Loft Urban Salon tent.
RBC Bluesfest is also searching the city for two ‘Faces of Bluesfest’—one male and one female—whose personality, style and joie de vivre best personify Ottawa’s biggest and most successful music festival. Two winners will be chosen from entrants over age 15 who post their photo or short video to @bluesfestfashion #BTFOBF (Instagram) from June 4th until June 25th. The winners will not only be the ‘Face of Bluesfest’ in promotional activities, but will win a hair and makeup makeover, swag bag and full festival passes.
“Last year, festival fashion was a new concept for RBC Bluesfest, but it was clear that Ottawans didn’t just get it, they absolutely loved it, so we are kicking it up a notch for 2016,” says RBC Bluesfest Fashion Director, Julie Beun.
The official RBC Bluesfest fashion collection by KANIA will be available for purchase before the festival at the Bayshore Shopping Centre retail outlet on level 2, opposite Guess. Partners in the campaign include The Loft Urban Salon, J Croner Agency, Angie’s Models and Talent International, Bayshore Mall, J Beun Media and Sparkling Expressions.
