Local musicians pull out all the stops for Haiti relief
See that a little widget on the right hand side of your monitor? No not the red thing – that’s the concert poster for what I’m about to tell you – I mean the one of your other right, the one that says “Hope For Haiti/12kfor12k”. If you don’t see it, you’ve probably blocked Javascript on this page – unblock it, I’ll wait.
…
Ok, so that widget is a little box that a bunch of people have clicked on, and chipped in to raise over $6000 (as of this writing) to help the survivors of the January 12th earthquake in Haiti. I’m sure you heard about it in the news. If you’ve chipped in already, well gosh-gee that’s awful super nice of you. If you haven’t, now’s your chance.
I just wanted to tell you about another way you can help, that’s WAY MORE FUN (no offense, little widget guy). The Rock For Haiti Relief Concert happens Saturday, January 30th, and features nine (!) Ottawa bands putting on a super-wicked show to raise some more dough while rocking everyone’s socks off – all proceeds to the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Aid in Haiti.
Here’s the list of bands, in no particular order – with sweet tasty hyperlink goodness:
MonkeyJunk
Big Jeezus Truck
Good2Go
The Action
The Kingmakers
Evil Farm Children
Boom Creek
Ninety Pounds of Ugly
The Big Bend
Credit for this event goes to Rob Bennett (of The Bushpilots), Rob’s wife Sandy, and Slim Reaper (of Big Jeezus Truck), with further logistical support from Maureen Hogan (Good2Go) and Jeff Monette (The Bushpilots).
Here’s the wheres and whens and whow-muches:
